A letter to my Only Daughter This is what a mother should tell her daughter when she leaves her home.

Dear Shubo,

I still remember the day when you were born and how elated I and your father were. Your father had tears of joy in his eyes. Sadly the entire family wanted a son and you were a constant reminder of a burden to them. They refused to hold you or see you. Someone even asked me to leave you or abandon you. Your father was enraged and badly pained at the same time. He decided to leave his family because he did not want you to grow up being disrespected and hated for no fault of your own.It was a tough decision for him, he loved his family, but he did not hesitate once before moving out.
.
.
We got a smaller home with lesser amenities but that never deterred your father from taking you to the market every evening and buying you your favorite balloon and getting you a ride in the most sought after swing of the city. We gave you the best education we could afford and you never disappointed us even remotely. On days of your Parent Teacher meetings, your father had a constant smile when the teacher used to praise you in front of the entire class and applauded our upbringing. That was the least we could have done for you.
.
.
We never stopped you from doing what you wanted, never discouraged you from talking to boys and wearing what you wanted because we knew you would never break our trust. Yes at times we were strict in certain respect because we wanted to save you from the perils that wait for their bait in this world. You were young, beautiful and very naive. Your father was incapable of seeing you in pain.
Just to tell you your grandparents were boasting to the entire world how you topped the university and they want to meet you. Let bygones be bygones and meet them before you leave. Respect them for their position in your life.
.
.
Now that you are done with your studies and leaving for your job, you will be stepping out in this world alone. I will not tell you now what you should be doing and what you shouldn't. In these 22 years, we have taught you and made you rational enough to judge and decide what is best for you. Take risks but in moderation. Learn from all experiences bitter or good.
.
.
This world is not as sweet as it seems. It is full of hypocrites. There will be times when your abilities will be looked down upon because you are a girl. Many times you would feel an outcast because you are a girl. Do not give in. Believe in yourself and blatantly refuse to quit. Your talents are not subjected to anyone's judgment. You will be objectified, leered at and even pressurized for sexual favors for early increments. Don't be scared or upset. Type your resignation, slap it down your boss and file a FIR.Come back home.We will find another job. We know how talented you are.
.
.
Coming next is the most important thing that I am going to tell you - Never ever let anyone abuse you emotionally or verbally. Whatever you do, however, you are, the only people you are answerable to are your father and me and nobody else. Nobody has a right to judge you on your clothes, character or anything else. If they call you a bitch for being rigid, a slut for befriending men reply as viciously as you can and move ahead but do not keep quiet.
.
.
In some years, we will help you in getting married to a boy of your choice. It is our dream to see you as a bride. Remember that you are getting married and not being sold. We still will remain your parents and will keep loving you unconditionally. You will have two lives to take care of then- your personal and professional. But I must warn you and put it straight forward to you, you are not going as a maid or a pleasure seeking game.Your husband is your equal. Don't treat him like a God unless he is willing to give the same respect to you. Learn to say no when you want to, be it sex or any household chore. He is your partner and not an owner. Be very respectful to his parents, they are your parents now.
.
.
Love his family like you have loved us. But in case he tries to hit you or even raise his hand before he touches you catch him off guard but don't you dare come home beaten and battered. We have never raised our hand on you and will not tolerate the same. You don't need to live with someone who can't wait for coitus. And trust me we don't want grandchildren with such genes. Your home is your home and will remain so always.
.
.
Ahhhhh... you too will grow old someday and by then you would also be a mother. you will know it is a tough job. My job has almost reached its retirement and I am happy to see the result. When I see you I feel glad that this is the outcome of my efforts.
You have made me proud and your children will carry forward this legacy.
We are always a call away.

Love you
Your mother

Other Side of Life Experiences

A father was busy reading his favourite magazine and his little daughter was every now and then distracting him.

To keep his daughter busy, he took out one page on which the World Map was printed. He then tore the page into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together again.

Having done this, the father was now convinced he would read his magazine without any disturbance as it would take his daughter the whole day to get it done.

But the little one came back within two minutes with the perfect map…………!!!

The curious and confused father asked her how she could do it so quickly??

She giggled and said,
“Oh…Dad, there is Amitabh Bachan’s photo on the other side of the paper, I made His face perfect to get the map right...!!!

Moral of the story:

In life there is always the other side to whatever you experience.
When ever we come across a challenge or puzzling situation,
look at the other side, you will be pleasantly surprised to find an easy way to tackle the problem...!!!
Have a beautiful week ahead.

An open letter from a Bangladesh citizen to BCCI

Dear BCCI,

First of all, congratulations on making it to the semifinals of the World Cup. It is a superb achievement from a team that failed to win a single game on Australian soil for over two months prior to the World Cup. So, prost.

Now on to the main point of writing this open letter.

How much more selfish can you guys get before realizing that the world doesn’t rotate around the BCCI? Almost everything that is being done in the world of cricket now has India at the centre. Now I know many of you might think I’m writing this letter because I’m bitter about Bangladesh’s exit at the hands of India, but I will ignore that notion and continue to elaborate my point.
I am fully aware that India is the money-market of cricket. This is a country that has 1 billion people who would sell their souls to the devil for the sake of cricket. Hence, wherever the Indian team goes, money follows – and so does the power.

The Indian cricket team now find themselves in the semifinals of the World Cup and are most likely to win the tournament because of their fine form added with luck. For India and Indians, this is already a successful tournament. But I doubt whether we can say the same for the rest of the teams – even the hosts.

This is not an opinion based on on-field performances, it is beyond that. Let us have a closer look at what has happened in this World Cup yonder the scope of on-pitch performances.

The main purpose of this World Cup seems to have been satisfying the Indian fan base exclusively. Even the feelings of the fans of the hosts – Australia and New Zealand – are not being respected. The members from the cricket associations of different countries who pay a lot of money for tickets every year aren’t getting their honorary and deserving free entry to the stadium.

The official broadcasters, Star Sports India, lag behind the standards of Channel 9 and Sky Sports. Also, the absence of Australian cameramen, who know the dimensions of their grounds thoroughly, has made the coverage just about mediocre. Why are there no Australian cameramen? Because all the cameramen have been hired from India and South Africa, and they aren’t as aware of the Australian grounds’ proportions like the locals are.

The lack of power of the local hosts is baffling. During the coverage of games, Star Sports has had many glitches that include loss of picture and sound, but these hiccups weren’t dealt with efficiency since the local Australian and Kiwi broadcasters had no control over the telecast and they still don’t. Another disgrace is the big screen. Instead of showing timely replays of important events of the match, it is used as an advertising block. So why use it to show cricket at all? Why not just keep playing ads over there during the whole game? Because clearly, the fans that paid their hard-earned cash (might sound like an alien term to you) came to watch advertisements and not timely replays of real-time events.

What’s the connection between BCCI and big screen advertisements, you ask? Well, it is you, the BCCI, that has pioneered the relentless commercialization of the sport, and that malaise is now spreading to all other countries.

I know that money is an important factor. Money doesn’t guarantee happiness, but it pretty damn well guarantees power. And you guys have that in plenty. But how much power does one need anyway?
The entire cricketing world bows to your feet. Members of different associations wouldn’t hesitate for a single moment to dive into a bottomless abyss if BCCI asked them to. That’s the supremacy you people possess.

The root of all that authority is not money, it is the people – the Indian cricket fanatics. More than half the fans of the game hail from India. But that doesn’t mean that the fans of the other countries should be deemed as pushovers, does it?

When it comes to passion, your neighbours – my people – are just as zealous, if not more. And so are the fans of countries like Pakistan, Australia and so on. However, this time, thanks to the overuse – or shall I say, misuse – of power, many Australians have decided to boycott the event. A look at the stadiums during games is a good indication of that. They are not happy, and they are not alone in that.
At this point, I feel an obligation to share my story. Once upon a time, and that time wasn’t so long ago, I was an ardent fan of the Indian cricket team. So much so that I loved them more than my own country’s cricket team. In fact, when Bangladesh knocked India out of the 2007 World Cup, my sadness at seeing Tendulkar and Co. bow out of the tournament was greater than the joy of seeing my own country go to the next round.

Now, however, there isn’t a single cell in my body, let alone soul, that can muster even an ounce of support for the Indian cricket team. In fact, I can’t even be bothered to watch the game, be they even Bangladesh’s games. It’s only because of the World Cup that a remote interest in cricket has been sparked in my football-loving mind – that’s how much damage has been done to the kid who couldn’t live even a single day without thinking about the sport.

And you, the BCCI, are the biggest reason for that. You are putting people off from watching the game because of your narcissism. And that is happening at an alarming rate.

Cricket is a religion in India, but contrary to what you seem to believe, it is not the only country that watches or loves it. Here’s a fun fact which you probably don’t know – when an ODI game is about to take place in my home city of Chittagong, people make their way to the ticket counter three days before sales open. THREE.

They bring pillows and blankets with them to sleep in the queue. If you don’t believe that, all you have to do is send someone to see it, but you won’t do that because there’s no money involved. You would rather watch the Twilight saga over and over again than do something that doesn’t bring money to you.

To conclude the letter, I humbly request you – the BCCI – to think about the fans of cricket in general and not just about money. You wouldn’t even care for Indian fans if they didn’t bring you money – this is the hard and cold truth. So please, for the love of cricket and to save it from being an only-India sport, be a little – just a little – generous and think about the other teams instead of treating them like used tissue papers.

P.S. I am not at all bitter about Bangladesh bowing out to India due to controversial umpiring decisions. Things like that happen. Even we reached the quarterfinal with the help of a wrong decision going in our favour. However, I do hope that the umpiring standards improve because this is the greatest event of the game and umpiring levels like this will only put a bad impression on people who are new to the game.
